Chamber of Commerce Journey — Part 2: The Phone Call

As part of my onboarding with the Bastrop Chamber of Commerce, I received an unexpected phone call from a Chamber Ambassador. I wasn’t aware that outreach calls were part of the process, so the call came as a pleasant surprise and offered helpful insight into how the Chamber supports its members.

 The Phone Call:

Friday January 23, 2026, I received an unexpected outreach phone call from a Chamber Ambassador, who I’ll refer to as Ms. Ambassador. I did not anticipate a phone call, so the introduction came as a pleasant and informative surprise.

Our conversation offered helpful insight into how the Chamber supports its members and encourages engagement within the local business community.

During our call, Ms. Ambassador walked me through the Chamber website and explained how to find upcoming events, mixers, and monthly luncheons. She encouraged attending multiple events as a way to meet other members, build familiarity, and begin forming professional connections.

She also invited me to attend an upcoming Live After 5pm networking mixer on February 12, hosted at VeraBank. She shared that VeraBank is well connected within Bastrop and frequently works with a variety of real estate professionals, making this event a strong opportunity for networking.

Ms. Ambassador explained that the Chamber hosts monthly luncheons, typically at a cost of $25 per person, and mentioned that members are welcome to invite a guest to attend events. She also shared that members are encouraged to:

  • Bring and share business cards at events
  • Introduce themselves to other members
  • Send a Chamber-wide introductory email reaching approximately 800 members

These options provide multiple ways for new members to introduce their businesses and become active within the Chamber.

During our conversation, Ms. Ambassador also shared a bit about her professional background. She works as a loan officer, serves as a Chamber Ambassador, and has lived in Bastrop for nearly two years. In addition to her professional role, she is also involved locally through fitness activities in Bastrop and even invited me to join one day.

Following our call, she shared her contact information, reference materials related to her work, and sent a thoughtful follow-up email thanking me for the conversation.

This initial phone call provided a glimpse into how the Bastrop Chamber supports its members and creates opportunities for connection. I’m looking forward to attending upcoming events and continuing to learn and engage within the local business community.

More to come as this journey continues.
